ARCH Capital Management is excited to announce the grand opening of its latest logistics investment in the Greater Metro Manila region in the Philippines. The asset is the first of a wider Philippines logistics program, developed in joint venture with our experienced operating partner, SLK Pacific Holdings Corp.
The newly constructed cold storage facility is strategically located near the South Luzon Expressway, linking the major central business districts (“CBD”) of Metro Manila to the Southern provinces of Luzon, the largest island of the Philippines. It has a total capacity of approximately 14,000 pallets, and offers dry, refrigerated, and cold storage solutions, accommodating for a diverse range of products. The facility complies with international safety and quality standards, and has additionally received its EDGE green building pre-certification from the International Finance Corporation (“IFC”) for its energy, water, and material savings.
The Philippines is one of Asia’s fastest-growing economies. In recent years, the significant improvements in infrastructure, and the rising living standards have fuelled a demand for higher quality logistics and warehouse facilities. Food security and waste concerns have intensified the need for temperature-controlled storage, resulting in additional government support for cold storage facilities.
“Investing in the improvement of cold storage facilities in the Philippines is not just about enhancing our supply chain efficiency; it is about securing the future of our agricultural and food sectors. As our economy continues to grow and infrastructure development accelerates, upgrading these facilities becomes even more critical. This aligns with the country's broader economic goals, supporting job creation, enhancing food security, and driving sustainable growth.” – Eric Manuel, Director at ARCH Capital.
Building on ARCH’s long-standing heritage in the Philippines, the firm has developed deep relationships and knowledge in this market. This has yielded a robust track record of successful acquisitions and divestments and a diversified portfolio across the residential, office, logistics, and data center sectors. Prior to the Luzon logistics facility, the team acquired and developed a data center in Cainta, Rizal, approximately 8 kilometers from the nearest Metro Manila CBD. This is a 6.5MW facility, with a capacity of up to 70MW data center campus suitable for both hyperscale and colocation customers.
“Logistics has been a sector of focus for ARCH Capital across the Asia Pacific region. The exponential growth of the e-commerce sector in various markets is reshaping its associated supply chains. We aim to invest and build logistics facilities in locations where we see improved connectivity, and where there is limited to no supply that meets the quality and safety standards of evolving occupiers.” – Jonathan Umali, Chief Investment Officer at ARCH Capital.
The opening follows ARCH’s recent logistics co-investment in Taiwan with Mitsubishi Estate, and leverages the firm’s logistics experience across the wider region. Please refer to the last announcement of the Taiwan logistics co-investment here: Link
